Easy Way To Make Greek Shakshuka at Home !

Shakshuka is a popular Middle Eastern and North African dish with roots dating back to the Ottoman Empire. It's popular in Libya and Tunisia, and it's also a popular dish in Israel. If you've ever had Italian "eggs in purgatory" or Turkish menemen, you'll recognize the dishes.

It's bursting with flavor, from earthy cumin and paprika to roasted tomatoes and peppers and sharp, salty feta. The addition of potatoes to my shakshuka makes it extra filling. Simply serve with some bread and perhaps a green salad for a quick, easy, and healthy meal!

Ingredients :

  • Approximately 1 cup of Greek Style Tomato & Red Pepper Sauce
  • About 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • sprig of basil for garnish
  • toasted pita bread or toasted Italian bread

Instructions :

  1. Warm the sauce in a small pan over medium high heat.
  2. Make 2 indentations in the sauce for the eggs.
  3. Place the eggs in the sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid.
  5. Cook about 5 minutes or until the egg whites have set and are fully cooked and the yolk is still runny or to you preference.
  6. garnish with a sprig of basil or with your favorite herb.
  7. Serve with some toasted bread. Enjoy!
